at the Joint Meeting are a convenient and less-costly way
to stay at the forefront of the health information profession.
Registration is handled on a first-come, first-served basis, and
no waiting lists are maintained. Some instructors have established
a maximum attendance size, so register

The Extreme
Googling course is a hands-on computer course that will be
held at an offsite facility at the Cerritos Public Library
in Cerritos, CA. Transportation will be available to and from
the library and will depart from the front entrance of the
Hyatt Regency promptly at 12:20 p.m. Visit the Cerritos
Public Library for hours
and location information and for driving
directions. 
- The Leadership
and Emotional Intelligence Workshop
will be held all day, Saturday, February 5, 2005. Breakfast
and lunch are provided for Saturday CE attendees. All other
continuing education courses will be held on Wednesday, February
2, 2005.

often needed when creating course materials, research
papers, and Web sites. You need to obtain permission when
you use a work in a way that infringes on the exclusive
rights granted to a copyright holder. This workshop will
aid you in planning strategies to obtain permission to
use copyrighted works for educational purposes. Participants
will find out about permission process and tools, sources
for public domain works, how to locate copyright owners
and ask for permission, as well as, what to do if the
copyright owner can not be located. |

a chance to learn about Google’s features and understand
when each can be of particular benefit. Participants
will explore how to take full advantage of Google’s
specialized searchable databases, and will find out about
bookmarklets and Google APIs. The workshop will evaluate
the merits of search engines, directories, databases and
other alternatives to Googling. The instructor will
provide participants with cheat sheets for the advanced
capabilities of Google and other search tools. |

for an understanding of the Joint Commission on Accreditation
of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) Standards for information
management and their implications for hospitals and health
care organizations. Participants will learn the key issues
related to providing and managing knowledge-based information
(KBI) to support the environment of care, quality and patient
safety. The class highlights the Shared Vision - New Pathways
initiative including the new survey process and the 2003
standards consolidation. Using scenarios, case studies and
group discussion, participants will clarify the library's
role in maintaining organizational JCAHO compliance. |
