Darling Biomedical Library, Authors: Paul Camp, Office Coordinator of Public Services; Amy Chatfield, Instruction Coordinator; Tania Bardyn, Associate Director for Public Services, UCLA Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library, UCLA Library, Los Angeles, CA.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Presenters discussed ways that they reached out to the user group of first through fourth year medical students to determine 1) if current orientation to library systems satisfied their needs, and 2) if not, what changes could be suggested.\u00a0 Information and participation was reached using free lunchtime meals and a chance to return to share additional comments in open forums through the years.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Updates to the library website included RSS news feeds, Facebook links, links to the medical student\u2019s webpage, photo sharing, and Twitter options.\u00a0 Their Twitter account had 41 followers, including five listservs.\u00a0 Workflow for maintaining marketing of services to students included drafting blog comments, editing to determine acceptability within institutional guidelines and posting\/publishing.<\/p>\n<p>Each user was given the name of their personal librarian to utilize during their medical school studies and librarians initiated interactions with the students and found that this helped students to access them with questions.\u00a0 Further initiatives include the possibility of utilizing webcasts\u00a0 for training and reviewing staff \/students attitudes of the use of Web 2.0 tools.<\/p>\n<p><em>Posted 1\/29\/10<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Posted by Carol Ann Attwood, MLIS, Patient Health &amp; Education Library, Mayo Clinic Arizona No Urban Amish Here:\u00a0 Social Networking at UCLA Louise M.
