{"id":2913,"date":"2011-01-04T14:32:47","date_gmt":"2011-01-04T21:32:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mlgsca.mlanet.org\/newsletter\/?p=2913"},"modified":"2011-01-04T14:33:54","modified_gmt":"2011-01-04T21:33:54","slug":"presidents-column-looking-to-2011-and-beyond","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mlgsca.mlanet.org\/newsletter\/?p=2913","title":{"rendered":"President&#8217;s Column: Looking to 2011 and beyond !"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mlgsca.mlanet.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/ew-picture.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2914\" title=\"Elaine Wakiji photo\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mlgsca.mlanet.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/ew-picture.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"118\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<em>By Eileen Wakiji, MLGSCA President<\/em><\/p>\n<p>MLGSCA membership and renewal for 2011 will soon be available, as noted by Danielle Linden,\u00a0\u00a0 2010-2011 Membership Chair, in her December 22nd email to the \u201cMLGSCA List.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0I would like to extend a special thanks to Ellen Aaronson (Finance Committee Co-Chair), Molly Harrington (Treasurer), and Danielle Linden (Membership Chair) for their work with the new registration company, Cvent, and their behind the scenes efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/ncnmlg.mlanet.org\/jtmtg2011\/\"><strong>2011 NCNMLG\/MLGSCA Joint Meeting<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 will be held in San Francisco February 23-26th. \u201cThe theme of the conference is \u2018sustainability\u2019 and will focus on how we can sustain our personal and professional lives in healthy ways, not just to survive, but to thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Please consider attending and also participating.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/ncnmlg.mlanet.org\/jtmtg2011\/registration.html\"><strong>Early registration for the Joint Meeting is January 10th<\/strong><\/a>. The <a href=\"http:\/\/ncnmlg.mlanet.org\/jtmtg2011\/papers.html\"><strong>deadline for paper and poster submissions<\/strong><\/a> has been extended to Friday, January 14th. MLGSCA will have a business meeting on February 24th.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>At the MLGSCA Advisory Council (AC) August 6, 2010 Budget Meeting, the AC passed a motion not to have a Joint Meeting in 2012 (since MLGSCA would have been responsible for that meeting) and to use the time to contemplate a 2013 Joint Meeting. In addition to the financial reasons for not having a 2012 Joint Meeting, the fact that MLA\u2019s annual meeting will be in Seattle, May 18-23, 2012 was another consideration.<\/p>\n<p>I hope to see you in San Francisco at the 2011 Joint Meeting.
