{"id":4816,"date":"2012-06-19T09:04:45","date_gmt":"2012-06-19T16:04:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mlgsca.mlanet.org\/newsletter\/?p=4816"},"modified":"2012-06-18T09:06:40","modified_gmt":"2012-06-18T16:06:40","slug":"sewell-fund-scholarship-applications-now-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mlgsca.mlanet.org\/newsletter\/?p=4816","title":{"rendered":"Sewell Fund scholarship applications now available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Librarians with  an interest in public health, make this the year you attend the American Public  Health Association Annual Meeting.\u00a0 Stipends funded by The Grace and Harold  Sewell Memorial Fund for this purpose will be awarded to at least 11 librarians  in 2012.\u00a0 This year\u2019s APHA  meeting will take place in San Francisco, CA from October 27 \u2013 31, 2012. I learned it  covers just about everything\u2026for Public Health you need to be knowledgeable  about the issues, the potential impact of legislation, and knowledgeable about  the \u2018agendas\u2019 of the interested parties\u2026\u201d (Kristin  Kroger)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOverall  the conference really helped me to better understand the scope of public health  as well as the latest development in the areas of public health that I am most  likely to have to deal with as a librarian\u2026.It was an incredible learning  experience.\u201d (Manju Tanwar)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that I\u2019m working on a Masters in Public Health  was very interesting to her (public health colleague) because she didn\u2019t realize  that some librarians also have another graduate degree.
