Thompson, editor-in-chief for <em>The Medical Library Association Guide to Health Sciences Information Resources<\/em>, a new book\/electronic publication co-published by MLA and Neal-Schuman, is recruiting contributors. <strong>Entries are due by December 31, 2009. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The Guide<\/em> will cover the most important information resources in the health sciences specialties, sub-specialties, preclinical sciences, and emerging disciplines.\u00c2\u00a0 Each discipline will be represented by up to 10 print and electronic monographs and 10 journals.\u00c2\u00a0 Significant audiovisual resources such as DVDs or CDs will all be included.<\/p>\n<p>Each entry will contain full bibliographic information along with a 150-200 word descriptive and evaluative annotation.\u00c2\u00a0 The annotations will identify the general scope and coverage of the work, any significant features, and intended audience.\u00c2\u00a0 Entries will also indicate whether the work is appropriate for a hospital collection, a well-rounded academic collection, a specialized collection, and\/or for a core consumer collection.\u00c2\u00a0 Some subject areas will not have appropriate literature to be included and some areas may have only one or two titles.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nBy December 31, contributors will fill out an online form for each resource they include.\u00c2\u00a0 Contributors names and institutional affiliations will be prominently featured in the work and its companion website.\u00c2\u00a0 MLA will also acknowledge contribution with a formal certificate of contribution.<\/p>\n<p>Those interested in contributing expertise in evaluating resources in any of the following topics should email Laurie Thompson at <a href=\"http:\/\/\">laurie.thompson@utsouthwestern.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Please include in your email:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>which topics you are interested in<\/li>\n<li>your qualifications<\/li>\n<li>how you will identify the resources in your chosen topics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Topics still to be covered include:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Allergy and Immunology<br \/>\nAndrology<br \/>\nBiology (general)<br \/>\nClinical Medicine<br \/>\nColorectal Surgery<br \/>\nCytology<br \/>\nDermatology<br \/>\nDiagnosis<br \/>\nEmbryology<br \/>\nEndocrinology<br \/>\nEquipment and Supplies<br \/>\nGastroenterology<br \/>\nHistology<br \/>\nInvestigative Techniques<br \/>\nMedical Illustration<br \/>\nNephrology<br \/>\nNeurology<br \/>\nNeurosurgery<br \/>\nOtolaryngology<br \/>\nPhotobiology<br \/>\nPhysiology<br \/>\nPodiatry<br \/>\nPulmonary Disease<br \/>\nRegenerative Medicine<br \/>\nRheumatology<br \/>\nSerology<br \/>\nSociobiology<br \/>\nSystems Biology<br \/>\nTherapeutics<br \/>\nTropical Medicine<br \/>\nUrology<br \/>\nVenereology<\/p>\n<p><em>Posted 10\/16\/09<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Laurie L.
