{"id":5450,"date":"2014-09-06T11:52:11","date_gmt":"2014-09-06T18:52:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mlgsca.mlanet.org\/newsletter\/?p=5450"},"modified":"2014-09-06T11:52:11","modified_gmt":"2014-09-06T18:52:11","slug":"head-of-serialselectronic-resources-jackson-ms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mlgsca.mlanet.org\/newsletter\/?p=5450","title":{"rendered":"Head of Serials\/Electronic Resources (Jackson, MS)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rowland Medical Library at the University of Mississippi Medical Center seeks a Head of Serials\/Electronic Resources Division, at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.\u00a0 Rowland Library serves the schools of medicine, dentistry, nursing, health related professions, pharmacy and graduate studies in the health sciences.<\/p>\n<p>The team member in this position:<\/p>\n<p>Provides leadership including reviewing current policies and procedures and formulates strategies for enhanced and continued workflow and processes for all serials and e-resources.<\/p>\n<p>Is responsible for library e-resources and print serial collections including managing budget, licensing, and electronic resources lifecycle.\u00a0 Coordinates acquisition, implementation and maintenance of electronic resources and serials.\u00a0 Provides oversight and supervision for workflow and processes.\u00a0 Communicates with vendors, publishers, consortia, and specific university IT staff. Monitors budget and expenditures and initiates payment with department accountant.\u00a0 Investigates new resources and places orders with agents or vendors.\u00a0 Conducts initial review of licenses and works with contracts administration.\u00a0 Informs staff and patrons of license restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>The incumbent must also work with reference\/education to help develop training materials and to identify e-content for possible purchase.<\/p>\n<p>This is a management level position that reports to the Library Director.\u00a0 The anticipated start date for this position is November 1; review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.<\/p>\n<p>REQUIRED:<\/p>\n<p>MLS or equivalent from ALA-accredited program with a minimum of three years\u2019 experience with serials and electronic resources management in an academic library.\u00a0 Demonstrated knowledge of acquisitions process for serials and e-resources. Experience using A-Z journal management resource and in facilitating and troubleshooting web design, networks, and proxy server operations.\u00a0 Strong patron service focus.\u00a0 Must have effective oral and written communication skills.<\/p>\n<p>PREFERRED:<\/p>\n<p>Experience in Health Sciences.\u00a0 Ability to provide meaningful data reports for serials and other e-resources using Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel reports.\u00a0 Experience supervising library staff.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Mississippi Medical Center offers a competitive benefits package and retirement plan.
