MLA Board of Directors Candidate: Rikke Ogawa

ogawa_rikkeRikke Ogawa, AHIP, is one of four candidates selected by the MLA Nominating Committee to run MLA’s Board of Directors for the 2010/11 association year.  Since 2006, Rikke has been the Emergent Technologies Coordinator and Health and Life Sciences Librarian at UCLA’s Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library.

Her most recent national MLA activites include member of the the Emerging MLA Leaders Task Force, 2011 National Program Committee: Section Council liaison, and Task Force on Social Networking Software.  Recent section activities include past chair/section council representative of the Educational Media and Technologies section.  Recent chapter activities include member of the Medical Library Group of Southern California and Arizona (MLGSCA), and MLGSCA Newsletter Committee co-editor.  She has been a Distinguished Member of Academy of Health Information Professional (AHIP) since 2008.  See MLA’s Candidate Information page for more information related to professional positions, activities, honors, education and publications.

In response to the Nominating Committee’s question, “If elected, what initiatives would you like to see MLA undertake during your term?” Rikke stated “Three initiatives that I would like to see MLA undertake during my term are: (1) emphasize mentoring people within and also into the profession, (2) engage all levels of the association in our work, and (3) rethink the structure of MLA…[see MLA’s Candidate Responses page for complete answer]”.
