Ysabel Bertolucci Annual Meeting Grant Fund

Posted on | April 8, 2014 | No Comments

The MLGSCA Advisory Council recently voted to donate $500 to the Ysabel Bertolucci Annual Meeting Grant Fund. This donation has already been made, and we received a nice thank you from Carla Funk and the MLA Board of Directors for the donation.

Ysabel was a valued and loved member of NCNMLG & many MLA Sections for many years and was actively involved in many of the MLGSCA/NCNMLG Joint Meetings. If you would personally like to contribute to this grant fund, you may do so online or by making a monetary donation at the Scholarship Booth while attending MLA and designating it for this fund. More information about this grant is available at http://scouncil.mlanet.org/blogs/news/ysabel-bertolucci-mla-annual-meeting-grant/.

Message from President-Elect Kathleen Carlson

Posted on | March 31, 2014 | No Comments

Thank you all for placing your faith in me and the running of MLGSCA. I hope I can fulfill the expectations that you have in the chapter presidency. With the help of more than two hundred dedicated members MLGSCA continues to assist librarians and other, information professionals and to promote excellence in professional achievement and leadership. Our organization is dedicated to supporting health sciences research and patient care, and to enhance the quality of health care, education and research. MLGSCA is one of the 13 MLA chapters that make up the larger parent organization. MLGSCA can only be valuable if its members continue to volunteer their time, expertise and to contribute to the organization’s success. I understand that most MLGSCA members have positions in hospitals, universities and colleges and that is their primary focus, but I call on MLGSCA’s silent majority, and those new to the profession, to volunteer as chair persons, to work on committees and workgroups, and to continue to make MLGSCA a strong chapter. I look forward to working with you in the upcoming months. Please do not hesitate to contact me via email kncarlso@email.arizona.edu if any concerns or ideas that you may have.

*Note for clarification: Kathleen Carlson is the current President-Elect. The current election for President-Elect is for the upcoming 2014-2015 term, when Kathleen will be President of MLGSCA.
